Merry Christmas 2007 from Melbourne

Our year in review

Jay and Marie started off as our summer visitors for the year. With bush fires in force our walking plans were reduced in scale and were very relaxed. Later in the year, Clare and Peter called in and then while enroute to NZ in September, Alex and Thomas stayed for a couple of days.

We’ve enjoyed a holiday in Tasmania, seeing some friends that had moved back to Hobart, and then at other times, getaways at various Victorian beaches (Walkerville, the Grove, Sorrento).

We’ve had some good times – nights out with friends, laughing it up at the Comedy festival and even seeing bands. We’ve had birthday parties (1 yr olds to 80 yr olds), picnics, dinners, zoo and parks and the girls and Kevin have been out to a few nights at the orchestra. Also football games and attending the FINA world swimming champs (diving…splash).

Teresa enjoyed her regular Irish dancing (and the odd beer after class – social and fitness), girlfriends movie nights and put in a big year keeping our family running. A regular week involves 2 to 3 days at work teaching English, literally a race against the clock to pick the girls up from school aftercare to get them to Suzuki Violin lessons, or pickup from netball training or flute lessons, get dinner prepared and get the girls up to bed (phew). We could start to roll through the statistics… 320 dinners prepared, 50 fruit and vegie shopping trips, a similar number of trips to butchers, bakers and candlestick makers! She helps at the girls’ primary school and organised a number of class social events (no river cruises or balls this year).

Kevin started off the year with a fabulous trip to Queenstown for Karl’s wedding. He trained for a small triathalon in March and felt like he was 10 years younger for a short while. He continued studies in IT (Enterprise Architecture (EA)) and is studying one subject over the summer and then the last one in 1st semester 2008 (then it’s over). He is coming up for his 6th year at Toll in March 2008 and is working in an EA role.
