Happy New Year from Alexandra, John & Thomas
Hello Everyone,
It’s that time to reflect on the past year and send greetings to friends & family far and wide, wishing you all every happiness for the coming year.
As you know we had bought a house in 2006 so throughout the year we have been very busy renovating and redecorating our house, all this has meant all work and no play! but we look forward to seeing the rewards for the coming year. The garden has responded to TLC: weeding, replanting and pruning giving a glorious display in our summer and not forgetting the giant pumpkins that grew as a bit of a surprise !
Much of Alexandra’s life has continued looking after Thomas who is 18months, but she will be looking into returning back to work part-time for this coming year. John is still working at his job up in Lyon managing Design Projects in the automobile industry, he gets to travels back & forth to England when necessary.
For August we had Grandma Nora over for 4 weeks helping us out on our house and spending time with Thomas, it’s been great to have Nora’s help but we just wish she would just put her feet up more often 🙂 .hint!
Thomas started going to a creche in May going to it a couple of days a week he took to it straight away, he’s very inquisitive and adventurous and a place where you don’t sleep for him.
We celebrated his first birthday party in July which was lots of fun, in fact we think there still might be some stray children lost in the jungly bit of the garden. We even found some vines growing up the top but haven’t had the time to cultivate them if we get everything else finished we might even be able to harvest enough grapes for a few bottles of homemade wine from “The Little Chateau”.
The holiday and travel highlights for the year were unfortunately minimal for John where he went on a few snowboard day trips but for Alexandra & Thomas we were fortunate to have spent from Sept – Dec down with Nana & Poppa Menzies in Rotorua, New Zealand. We will be flying out to join John on the 28th Dec so it would be great to be a fly on the wall to see Thomas’ reaction when he sees his Daddy after 3 months, Nora is at our place now so she will get to see Thomas for the New Year before flying back to Whitby. Thomas has grown up quickly since his stay in NZ amongst the family; he is now talking and expects to do everything that the adults are doing.
Once again we wish you all a very happy, safe and prosperous new year for 2008.
Love from Alexandra, John & Thomas.
