Karl and Bonnie’s Wellington Adventures 2013

Christmas Greetings from the Welly Crew for 2013

Time to reflect on a momentous year that we have had

It started off with a very special moment of welcoming Rose Marie Menzies into our world (well done to Bonnie who had a difficult pregnancy and ended up on crutches from painful hips!) It was all worth it to welcome Rose into our world born 13-03-13 and weighing in at 3.13 kg!

She has certainly had lots of attention & love this year from us all with – her sisters have adjusted well in having a new sister. Unfortunately her health has been up and down over winter with a few sinus infections and blocked ear drums which has made quite a few restless nights 🙁

She is getting grommets in her ears in Jan to relieve this issue going forward.

Molly has progressed well at School this year – being her second year at Owhiro Bay Primary, she has enjoyed learning to read and write and is starting to get into Maths. Both Lilly-Anne and Molly have attended swimming and music lessons over the year which has been great to see them progress. Lilly-Anne is taking up ukulele next year and Molly the recorder.

Lilly is prepping for school bext year in Feb which is a step up from Kindercare but she will have her sister to be with so we will watch how she progresses and are excited to have her start!
Bonnie was happy to go back to work in September with Capital Eye Specialist continuing in her Opthalalmic technician role but also taking on more responsibilities in clinical studies which she has a passion for.

Karl had an enjoyable year working with Land Information NZ on their online Services Improvements project as a project lead / Business analyst- look for new services being launched in the new year at www.linz.govt.nz and landonline.govt.nz. He also had a short stint at Ministry of Primary Industries working with them on a learning management system (LMS) project across MPI. Watch this space for a new role in the new year…

We had a special family reunion for Marie’s 80th in Auckland with our family coming together and also Rose’s christening – great to see all the family and rellies come together again.

We did have one major drama this year being our house build which we started the journey on in June 2012.. well after much delay from the developer he unfortunately went into receivership in April 2013 leaving us with a fifth of the build complete and having to deal with receivers…

What a nightmare they are – we were in limbo for 6 months trying to get a section to continue to build our house – luckily the stars aligned in late November and we were able to purchase the land and partial house build off the receivers and the builders started on the house build again in early Dec – we are expecting a completion date of mid May (hopefully!)

That’s it from us – we are heading up to Gisborne for the Christmas & New Year break
Wishing you all a special and Merry Christmas where ever you are
Karl, Bonnie, Molly, Lilly-Anne & Rose
