The Cairns Crew 2015
Hi everyone,
As usual the year has flown, which means we’ve been pretty busy. Connor (14), Aidan (12), Bryce (9) have all managed to survive the year in tact – and in the process helped the grey hair count on their parents’ heads. All are pretty happy at the local state school. Aidan and Connor are both at High School, while Bryce has completed a lovely year in Grade 4. Connor has enjoyed his second year of cricket and also played futsal. Aidan continued progressing well with his running. Aidan and Bryce joined up with athletics which they enjoyed.
All boys competed in surf lifesaving and John tried his hand at Age Managing Bryce’s age group, which is a bit like herding cats!! They are enjoying the holidays immensely and have been doing a lot of swimming in the creek , running the dog, jumping out of trees, riding bikes, playing nerf wars, catching up with friends, making a mess in the house & playing their new XBOX (the last two items much to their mother’s displeasure).
I’ve asked the boys a few questions about what they thought 2015 was like.

As you can see the NZ holiday featured high on everyone’s list. It was great to get away, go ski-ing and catch up with the NZ relatives along the way and at Jay’s 80th Birthday in Auckland. Our thanks must go to Karl, Bonnie and the girls, for putting us up in Wellington and organising our premium accommodation in Queenstown.
For the rest of the year, John has been managing the refurb of quite a landmark pool in town called Tobruk pool. It will look fantastic when it is finished, so he is quite pleased to have been involved in the project. The councillors (& his managers) are all very happy with the effort he has put in.
We have started preparing the house for some reno work over the holidays. Our walls are to be rendered and the floors tiled. It shall be a big job but I will be glad to say goodbye to the carpet – YEAH!!
We will be having Christmas in Mossman with our extended Woods/Mannix family, and our day will be spent eating, drinking, playing cricket and swimming in the creek. We hope that however you spend your day, it is an enjoyable one.
Merry Christmas and Best wishes for 2016 from
John, Marilyn, Connor, Aidan and Bryce
Great story of 2015 and have a fantastic Christmas break
