Alex and John French Nouvelles 2016

Voeux de Noël from the Menzies & Swales’s family…
If I had one word to describe our year for 2016 it would be ‘Purposeful’.

The reason why you may ask… is because we have all stepped up a gear to reach goals on house renovations, career or school paths and making the most of still living in France.
Thomas is now 10 years old, our cat ‘Milk’ who we adopted this summer is around 3 years and John and Alexandra both celebrated their 50’s + 1.

Thomas has continued with basketball, playing 3 times a week with his friend’s and enjoys the same school that he has been at since he was 3 years old. In early June, he was happy to have made his first communion then to be followed at the end of June, to receive a great school report from his teacher.

In the August summer, we took advantage of spending a month’s holiday along the Atlantic coastline at Seignosse. We stayed at our friend’s rented apartment whom’s we enjoyed in the summer previously. Once again we did some shopping, sighting seeing, cycled, stand-up paddleboarding and soaked up the heat.

In September, Thomas started his last year at primary school where he has made a great group of 12 friends. John & I enjoy when the parents are involved in the Laser Game birthday events, even though the parents are all about 10 years younger than us we’re still both the top players.

We started the New Year with many weekend visits to a ski station near Chambéry at Le Feclaz, a 2 hours drive from home. Thomas now has reached a good stage for us snowboard together comfortably, so we’re looking forward to more fun runs in the coming months.

John has continued to work in the same job as last year (Sales Rep. at Axletech) and Alexandra as an English language teaching since 7 years now, still teaching adults and children in the same local communities and government organizations.

I no longer teach in the evenings but only during the school hours since Axletech does business with USA John can only call his clients early evening so any spare time I have is on house renovations or being a mum.

2017 holds an exciting year ahead with plenty to achieve on this side of the globe, as one would say in French “de mieux en mieux” … ‘from good to better’. Most importantly we’re looking forward to spending more time with family down-under especially with our beloved Nana & Poppa. Our hearts go out to you both for a speeding recovery, giving pleasing results.

Wishing you all a Happy Christmas and we hope that 2017 brings you many good things.

Love Alexandra, John and Thomas
