Melbourne Menzies News for 2016

Posted on Dec 24, 2016 in Kevin & Teresa, Melbourne | 1 comment

Merry Christmas everyone.

It’s been a good year for us all in Melbourne

Ella has had a great year being a first year student at Melbourne University life. She has enjoyed new places, friends and freedom particularly as a keen skier, socialite, as well as her studies and part-time work.

Amelia has very much enjoyed her first year of full time dance and academic studies at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School. We enjoyed beautiful and talented performances from Amelia and her fellow students.

Kevin and Teresa are keeping active and busy, with Kevin appreciating his visits to the physio (overuse of the achilles tendon). Teresa had a busy work trip to Changsha in China in March.

We all enjoyed a quick visit from Isabella in May with a tiki-tour of selected sights.

Our best trip was travelling to Vanuatu in September to visit Teresa’s sister Angie and her partner Mick who have a holiday house there.

We were treated to dinners, fireworks, zip-lining through jungle tree-tops, swimming, snorkelling, cycling, boating and meeting the friendly local people, NiVan.

We hope 2016 was kind to you and we wish you peace and joy for Christmas and for 2017.

Love from Amelia, Ella, Teresa and Kevin

  1. Hi Kevin, Teresa and girls, I find it hard to believe how much the girls have grown and how you two look exactly the same as you did when last we saw you in Cork!!! It’s great to hear how well they are both doing and to see what lovely young women they have become.

Alll is well here with us, 2016 wasn’t a bad year, it wasn’t the greatest I suppose but also not the worst. Dad and Anne tied the knot which was a lovely occasion, I was diagnosed with malignant melanoma and had two surgeries on my upper arm to have 6cm cut out in February and again in June but no further treatment required Thank God except for follow ups every 3 months for the next 5 years.

I got made permanent at my job in GSK the same day I was diagnosed-so you know-swings and roundabouts!!! There’s a price for everything!!! Mike left his job with Ulster Bank to become CEO at FEXCO a big asset finance company here so that has been a big change for us as he is away a lot more now. It’s taking a bit of adjustment but we’re getting used to it.

We’ve had a very busy few months so decided to have a really low key Christmas and it’s been lovely and relaxing.

We are hoping to get to the Southern Hemisphere late next year for my 50th so we might actually get to see you again, we need to sit down and figure out where we want to go and how much holiday time we need to take off, Xmas seems like the obvious choice to maximise holidays but we’ll see. I’d really like to be away for 5 or 6 weeks but not a hope of that!!!

Have a happy Christmas and wishing you all the best in 2017 with love from Mary and Mike xx
