The Melbourne Mob 2009
Greetings from the Melbourne Menzies & Devine’s.
It’s nice to be writing a letter to family and friends and reflecting on an enjoyable and busy year in 2009.
We have all worked hard, played harder and crammed as much as we could into most weeks – some of which have been well planned and others – well chaotic.
Amelia is now 8 years old, Ella is 12 and Kevin and Teresa are still in their 40’s.
Amelia has made quite a few new friends, adding to her stable group of Mia and Via, as well as making furry friends in most of the places that we visited. Amelia is continuing with ballet, the violin, the gym and is a great swimmer. Her no.1 toy is a DS with the Mario’s.
Ella also has a stable group of around 10 friends – for the last school day of her primary school life they all sadly cheerio’d teachers and then met for gelato and later a couple of movies by projector at our house. Ella is starting at an excellent Catholic secondary school in 2010, with a new group of classmates to meet. Ella is continuing with nippers surf life saving, flute, diving and netball. She had a full year representing the school at zone and state champs., being the school vice captain with lots of public speaking, attending a 10 day interschool camp.
Both girls enjoyed great reports from their teachers.
We all enjoyed travelling during the year, with the more notable trips being to either NZ, or Canberra and the big one for us – a month in Europe. We saw Alex, John and Thomas in Paris, our friends Marco & Isa with Lorenzo, Carlotta and Martino in Italy, Teresa’s relations (there are a good many) in Ireland and London, Lynch family relations and many other friends during this great trip.
Kevin and Teresa both kept healthy during the year and continued to work in the same jobs as last year (information technology at Toll and English language teaching for adults as well as teaching material development at a university).
Teresa continues to enjoy the Irish dancing classes on a Thursday and the regular movie club Sunday nights that she organises with friends.
