Clare and Marco’s Highlights for 2010
Hello To You All,
Clare, Marco and Joshua have had a really good year with a variety of interesting and fun events.
First of all we settled in in our new home and decided to get double glazing in on the southern part living area and a heatpump to make life a bit more pleasant during the winter months. These jobs were finished in autumn and we had a much more comfortable winter with no crying windows anymore.
Joshua was again one of the participants in the Kiwi Bike Jam that are held once a year in Wellington and around the country. Even while it was a hard circuit because it was steep with a lot of hills he finished and as a reward he received a medal. Joshua is growing and soon will be taller than his mother. Watch out Clare!
Joshua is doing well at school and is assisting the lady from the libary during lunchtimes. Joshua is now the Chief Libarian and has enjoyed taking on this task and developing his leadership skills. One of Joshua’s favourite hobbies is reading and at school he has the level of a 11 year old.
Early in the year Josha finished his football season and started to play judo. Twice a week he is attending training and recently he received his yellow belt and maybe at the end of next year he will have his orange belt.
Because Marco’s father turned 80 in July Clare and Marco booked a trip to Europe to be at the party as well and besides that it was a perfect opportunity to introduce Clare to the whole family in one day. Even while we were only for 9 days in the Netherlands we really enjoyed it and had a busy program visiting friends of Marco and walking around in Amsterdam, Bruges and being a spectator of the Tour de France.

After visiting the Netherlands we went by the TGV to Lyon and visited Alex, John and Thomas and again had a lovely time. Besides a small bike trip of 4 days we stayed with Alex, John and Thomas and had a fnatastic trip to the Alpes and stayed in Chamonix. Before we knew we were in the TGV to Paris were we stayed for 2 nights before we flew back to New Zealand.

Back in New Zealand we had to deal with the winter and specially the rain as this has been a very wet year for the Wellington area.
Just before we left for Europe Marco started a course for a year in frontline management and is only 4 assignment and a project on the to do list before end of the year. In between the course he has done a lot of work in the garden and in November the rubbish container arrived to remove all the weed etc and a few days later 150 native plants replaced the old grass area. In around 2 years time it will be established with hopefully less maintance involved.
Clare has been working hard this year to establish a network of clients to make her job easier next year which will give her the opportunity to develop further in the field of marketing and sales in the Wellington area. As a result of her networking she is constantly meeting new people and some of them we see after work on a Friday or Saturday for a drink or meal.
Besides enjoying the social scene in Wellington we also bought two racing bikes and were involved in one cycle event with nearly 500 cyclists a the end of October. Besides cycling it is nice to catch up with people who have the same interest and when there is group of cyclists together generates a lot of energy.
Yoga is a weekly routine for Clare and even on a beautiful day she will make her way to a studio heated up to 37 degrees to enjoy the excercise. Clare enjoyed a 40 day challenge this year and it was exceptionally rewarding.
We trust you are all well, and we look forward to hearing your interesting stories on how your year has been.
We wish you all a happy and prosperous New Year! Take care over the holidays and MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Love Clare, Marco and Joshua XXOOO
