The Cairns Crew 2010
Hi Everyone
We have had an enjoyable year overall and we are looking forward to having a relaxing break over the next few weeks. We will be spending the first few days of the holidays up in Mossman with Jim and Ethel, and family.
Connor and Aidan have had a great year sports wise. They both played a full season of soccer for Redlynch Cyclones again, in under 9 and under 7 respectively. I assisted coaching Connor’s team and it was great to see them develop their skills as the season progressed. Aidan’s team (the “Soccer dogs”) had another successful year and he is a star fullback.
The second sport Connor and Aidan were involved with for the second half of the year was Surf Life Saving with the Palm Cove Club. They both really enjoyed themselves and their abilities really improved as the year went on.
Connor ended up being awarded “Nipper of the year” in the under 10 age group at the club whilst Aidan took out runner up for the Under 10’s at the Branch championship carnival. They both made some really good friends at the club as well.
All three boys have been keeping up with their swimming lessons all year and over the past few months Connor has got back into swimming for Marlin Coast swimming club. He has continued on his good form and picked up quite a few medals at recent FNQ swimming carnivals. He even won $50 at dash for cash event.
Bryce has come along well this year. He went to Daycare and Kindy for three days a week and is now ready for his first year of school at “Prep” next year. He has enjoyed keeping the boys and us company at the soccer grounds/beach/pools throughout the year and will no doubt continue to do so next year.
Maz has been working at a local public swimming pool – Tobruk Pool since the end of April which she really enjoys. She runs the pool Kiosk and also takes swimming lessons occasionally. She has a nice boss and is happy continuing at the pool next year.
Outside of working at the pool she has a had another busy year running round after our three boys – being a Mum, soccer team manager, taking them to swimming classes and carnivals, etc. Maz also enjoys keeping fit by swimming regularly and taking walks around the valley and the occasional longer day trip.
I have enjoyed participating in soccer coaching and watching the boys compete in their sports this year.
My work has been a lot more enjoyable and I feel I have made some achievements with my three main construction management projects coming to completion over the past two months. I also recently achieved Engineers Australia Chartered Status which is a milestone I have been working towards for a few years.
Maz and I have our new house to work on over the next twelve months. I will finish the design in the first few months of the next year and then we will look to sell our current house and hopefully start building around May/June 2011.
We will be adding another member to out household in the new year – a pup from Nathan & Richelle’s dog Meika. The boys are exited about that and Maz and I feel it is the right time for a dog to join the family.
We hope you all have a safe and happy year in 2011.
Lots of Love
John, Maz, Connor, Aidan & Bryce
