Clare Marco 2011The year has gone really quickly and after Marco proposed to Clare in June of this year it has been a roller coaster.

A simple wedding with only 34 people would normally be an one hour “job” but as the whole Menzies family will be together for the first time in nearly 2 decades with a bit of International travelling involved has changed the word simple into convenience and some re-thinking.

Joshua is looking forward to being the page boy and having the company of his two cousins (Lilly and Molly) as the flower girls for the wedding day. He loves to have his cousins to play with on the weekends.

We are now in the final stages with organizing the wedding and we have enjoyed the last weeks of this year with some fun social events.

In August we had two days of snow which is unusual for Wellington and as you can see on the photo, Joshua had the time of his life. Joshua has done very well with his Judo and was graded to an orange belt last October.

Marco and Clare have been working this year in an economy which we have not seen for a while and this has brought some challenges to not only Wellington but also to our daily jobs. Fortunately we still have a job and realising that we need to focus on the future and be cautious what we are doing in our fabulous city. Yes, Wellington is good for us as we like to be in the coolest capital of the world with the bars, restaurants and the waterfront.

In May this year, Marco received his diploma in frontline management which he quietly achieved with hardly any inconvenience for Clare. This is his first NZ diploma and was a nice addition to his CV.

Clare changed jobs early in the year and is getting green fingers at the moment as she is advising businesses in how to create a nice green working environment. Not only has Clare been creative in her work she has been able to receive advice from her boss Tracy who helped re-design and landscape our garden. Through the guidance of Tracy, Marco and Clare found themselves doing hours of work (mostly Marco) on the weekends to finish the theme created in the garden – which is like a miniature native reserve.

Wishing you all a merry xmas
Claire, Marco and Josh
