Clare, Marco & Joshua’s Highlights 2012
Merry Xmas to everyone, Yes, what a year we had!
January was full on with preparing for the Big Day for Marco and I. After we both survived the stag and hens do we were ready for the moment.
It was really special for not only us but for the whole Menzies family to be together for the first time in 19 years. We are still looking back with a lot of fun to our special day and after we left a few days later for Rotorua we prepared for the 50th anniversary of mum and dad. Again was a special and lovely day and something nobody will forget easily. Before going on our honeymoon, Clare first started a new job as Regional Manager for Crest Commercial Cleaning. After she had learned the basics of the job we stepped in the plane for a nearly 4 weeks honeymoon to the Netherlands and Spain.
It was important to visit the Netherlands as Marco’s father had a stroke earlier in 2012 and was in a rehab location. He was really happy to see us both and we visited him once or twice a day. The days we were not able to visit Rinus was when we visited Amsterdam and Barcelona for 3 days.
Barcelona was really special because Marco had booked a fabulous hotel in the centre of the city (Ohla Hotel) and we just enjoyed out time there, especially the tasty tapas and sangria’s.Arriving back in New Zealand was hard, after fighting off the jet lag in the first week, but the second week we gradually felt ourselves again.Joshua is growing really fast this year and becomes more and more a teenager at times. He is still keen on reading but also like to play games with us. The teachers at school are also positive about his performance and that gives us a confidence for the years to come.
In and around the house we are still improving the quality of living and this year we have insulated the downstairs area and put some heaters in the bedrooms. Further, we have painted the shed in a nice Mediterranean colour after a builder fixed some completely rotten timber sheets.
2012 has been a very special year in various ways and we are all looking forward to a well deserved break and spending Xmas day with Mum & Dad in their new home in Glendowie , Auckland. We then head to Paihia for 5 days and it will be great to see the beautiful beaches up north with the white sand and hoping for a first time ‘sunny holiday break’.
We wish all of you a Happy, Special Xmas with your family and friends.
Love Clare, Marco and Joshua xxoo
